We have recently relaunched our Owls Clubs to include more benefits to our members, including early access to event booking and discounted entry to paid open events. Members also receive their own membership card, a complimentary pack of seeds and other offers. Membership continues to be optional, however, so anyone is welcome to come to our Owls Clubs by booking individual sessions.
With a mission to enable more people to connect with the countryside, we have been running our Owls Clubs (‘playgroups with a difference’) for over 20 years. Our aim is to help toddlers and young children (and their parents, grandparents or carers) to feel confident outdoors, thereby laying good foundations for life.
We have 4 different clubs: Owlets (0-2 year olds) and Little Owls (2-4 year olds) which run monthly; Big Owls (4-7 year olds) and Eagle Owls (7+ year olds) which run at weekends and during school holidays. Common to all our clubs is lots of time spent outdoors exploring our farm, gardens and woodland. Activities are designed to be seasonal and to fully engage children. This autumn, our orchard is brimming with fruit and our Owls have already been busy helping to get the apple harvest going by picking apples, doing craft with apples, juicing apples and most importantly eating apples!
Art activities and stories also feature every session and the children keep a scrapbook of their time here. Parents, grandparents and carers enjoy their time with us too, and all activities are led by experienced staff.
Jane Cooper, Chief Executive of the Countryside Trust, says: ‘We love our Owls Clubs, and this relaunch is all about ensuring that our Owls have a wonderful time every session, and a closer relationship with the Countryside Education Trust all year. We are always open to new people, so please come and try us out! It is a great way to spend time in the countryside and to meet new people.’
